Kingdom of Morocco

Because Morocco is so incredibly close to places like Gibraltar and Tarifa, I decided to take a day trip across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Moroccan City of Tangier. As a whole, Morocco is an interesting place being that, while it was never formally colonized like, say the British Raj in India, parts of the country did come under the influence of the Spanish and French. Also, during the Age of Imperialism, Tangier became a “free city” that was open to influence by a number of different world powers. Because of this, Tangier has an international flair that is unmatched. It is not uncommon to hear people speaking Arabic, Spanish, French, English, or Berber in Tangier, nor is is hard to find leftover buildings from the Age of Imperialism.
